Two Cans of Beer and a Small Plant Please

I’m typically bitter but when I’m with these two I’m best!

A black and white 3:2 ratio landscape orientated photograph of two cans of Asahi The Bitter-ist beer and a potted baby Ficus benjamina. The two black beer cans take up most of the left half of the photograph. Benjamin sits on the right side a little behind the cans but separate from them. The cans are lined up so that the left can shows the large first two golden letters of Asahi whilst the right can displays the remaining three letters. The tip of one of Benjamin’s leaves looks as if it touches the top of the can (again that flat fun from photography). The angle the leaf makes (sloping down around 30 degrees from the horizontal) matches (almost) the slope of the top of the letters ‘a’ and ‘h’ of the second can. Quite pleasing. I didn’t notice the touch potential when I set up nor again when taking the shot. I must learn from that. Slow down when shooting objects/subjects that are not going to move. Earlier today I returned to take an identical shot to one I took a few weeks back. I was editing that older shot in Picture Window Pro last night and noticed that a couple of tweaks would make the composition a little stronger. The shot was taken nearby and the cooler temperatures we have today meant I could do a slightly longer walk to my local supermarket. So set up the repeat shot I did. Walking away, I decided to check that all was aligned only to notice that two elements were now distractingly overlapping. So third time a charm, right? Well almost. Checking the shots back home what I wanted to align was aligned, but it is just a tad off. I must go back a fourth time. Message to self: measure twice cut once but translated to photography workflow. Back to beer. This Asahi beer is a new release for the summer. It’s not best bitter as I know it from the UK but it’s close. Asahi is not a brand I typically drink. My Japanese beer brewer of choice is Sapporo and their Ebisu brew.
