Speak in Tongues?

I write to understand my mother tongue and bring clarity to my thoughts. Language is a powerful weapon that I want to master. I probably won’t, not sure anyone can. akikana.com is my public display of that journey for wider audience consideration. The posts will not be perfect: there will be gaps I’ll need to return to and fill. Methinks that’s where the enjoyment lurks.

Who Am I?

For over thirty years I worked in the banking world based at various times in London, Tokyo, Singapore and Copenhagen. I lead multi-cultural teams and projects. I coached. I mentored. Cajoled, taught and learnt. I managed successfully. After running on empty for a few years I finally escaped and began recharging. Consequently I qualified as a teacher of English as a foreign language. I also taught myself Python - 45 years after mastering Basic. I enjoy classical music, trains, birds and bird watching, walking, cooking and reading. More Now.

Who Are You?

akikana.com is broadly appealing. However, I try to polish it such that it shines a little more for the independent language learner averse to dry textbooks and stale teaching methods. Alternatively, perhaps you are in search of the obscure, the humorous, the unusual, the contrary or the unique. akikana.com will bestow that. Whoever you are, thank you for stopping by and you are most welcome to stay as long as you like.
